Advocate for cats is a comprehensive, monthly, spot-on treatment that offers broad-spectrum protection against a wide range of external and internal parasites, including fleas, most intestinal worms, ear mites, lungworms, and heartworm. It works on contact to kill fleas without them needing to bite.

Advocate for cats contains two active ingredients: imidacloprid and moxidectin. Imidacloprid acts topically to kill external parasites, while moxidectin is absorbed through the skin into the bloodstream to target internal parasites.

Administration and Safety
- Application: The contents of the pipette are applied to the skin at the base of the cat’s skull, where it is difficult for them to lick it off.
- Dosage: Advocate comes in two sizes for accurate dosing based on the cat’s weight:
- Small Cats (1 – 4 kg): Orange pack (0.4 ml pipette).
- Large Cats (4 – 8 kg): Purple pack (0.8 ml pipette).
- For cats over 8 kg, an appropriate combination of pipettes should be used.
- Suitability: It can be used on kittens from 9 weeks of age and over 1 kg in weight. The safety during pregnancy and lactation has not always been established and requires veterinary consultation in some regions.
- Warnings:
- Advocate for cats must NEVER be used on dogs as it can be fatal to them.
- Care should be taken to prevent cats from licking the application site immediately after treatment to avoid transient salivation due to the bitter taste.
- Occasionally, mild, transient side effects like hair loss or greasy fur at the application site may occur.
- Treated cats should not swim in aquatic environments for 4 days after treatment, as the product is harmful to aquatic organisms.
