Description
The Bravecto chew (fluralaner) for dogs is an oral, palatable treatment that provides 12 weeks of long-lasting protection against fleas and ticks. It is a veterinary-prescribed medication that is administered every three months.
Key Features and Benefits
Extended Protection: A single Bravecto chew offers protection for up to 12 weeks, which is three times longer than typical monthly treatments. This reduces the chance of missed doses, ensuring consistent coverage against parasites.
Active Ingredient: The primary active ingredient is fluralaner, which belongs to the isoxazoline class of parasiticides.
Fast-Acting: It starts killing fleas within 2 hours of administration and kills over 95% of fleas within 12 hours. It also kills 100% of ticks within 12 hours.
Target Parasites: It is indicated for the treatment and control of:
Fleas (Ctenocephalides felis)
Various ticks, including the black-legged tick, American dog tick, brown dog tick, Asian longhorned tick, and lone star ticks
Mites, including those causing Sarcoptic mange and Demodicosis
Ease of Use: The chewable tablet is soft and palatable, and over 93% of dogs in a US field study ate it voluntarily, either by hand or mixed with food. It should be administered at or around feeding time for maximum effectiveness.
Safety: Bravecto chew is safe for use in puppies from 8 weeks of age (weighing at least 2 kg) and in breeding, pregnant, and lactating dogs. It has a wide safety margin.
Aids in Treatment: It can be used as part of a treatment strategy for flea allergy dermatitis (FAD) due to its quick and effective elimination of fleas.
