Description
Bravecto Spot-On is a long-lasting topical solution for dogs and cats that treats and prevents flea, tick, and some mite infestations. Its active ingredient is fluralaner, an insecticide and acaricide that works systemically after application to disrupt the nervous system of parasites.
A single application provides extended protection, significantly longer than typical monthly treatments:
- For Dogs:
- Flea protection for up to 6 months.
- Tick protection for up to 4 months (or 12 weeks for brown dog ticks).
- Also treats Sarcoptic mange, Demodex mites, and ear mites.
Application Instructions
The product comes in a single-dose pipette with a “Twist’n’Use” cap that stays on the tube for easy, mess-free application.
- Open: Hold the pipette upright and twist the cap one full turn to break the seal.
- Position the Pet: Ensure the dog or cat is standing or lying with its back horizontal.
- Apply: Part the fur and place the pipette tip directly against the skin.
- Dogs: Squeeze gently to apply the entire contents in one or more spots along the back, from the shoulder blades to the tail base, depending on the dog’s size.
- Cats: Apply the entire contents in one spot at the base of the skull to prevent them from licking the product off.
- Dry Time: Do not bathe the pet or allow contact with the application site until it is fully dry (typically at least 3 days).
Safety and Precautions
- Bravecto Spot-On is safe for use in puppies from 8 weeks of age (weighing at least 2 kg) and kittens from 9 weeks of age (weighing at least 1.2 kg).
- It is for topical use only; oral ingestion should be avoided.
- The product is flammable; keep away from heat sources.
- Commonly observed reactions are mild and transient skin reactions at the application site (e.g., redness, itching).
- Pets should not be treated at intervals shorter than 8 weeks.
- Consult a veterinarian before use if your pet has a history of seizures or fluralaner sensitivity.
